Upcoming Events

Our troop needs to make a decision on our ’09 summer out-of-state campout, by the end of this month.  We are now exploring two different options.  We would like to have input from Scouts and their parents as to which option they prefer.  We will gather all the information we can, and then make a decision that best fits the troop.  Please review the two options listed below and let us know which option best fits your family’s desires.  You can either respond to this e-mail or let Joe Ubert , Tim Henderson , or myself know your thoughts.

One option is to attend the Chris Dobins camp in Pleasant Valley , Colorado .  This camp is a standard merit badge camp for all ages in the Rocky Mountains .  We will travel as a troop in vehicle caravan.  This campout would run somewhere between $300 to $400 per scout or adult.

Another option is to attend the Emerald Bay camp in Catalina Bay, California.  This camp is both a high adventure and standard merit badge campout.  Both options will be available for our boys.  The high adventure camp will have an age restriction; the standard merit badge camp is open to all scouts.  We will travel as a troop in an Amtrak train from the Newton station.  This campout would run somewhere between $700 to $800 per scout or adult.

We will need to have adequate adult leadership to be able to attend either of these camps.  Also we have a troop policy that states all first year scouts will have to be accompanied by with one of their parents.

Please let us know your thoughts before our Oct. 27th Troop meeting.  FYI, we are working on some fund raising ideas to help offset the potential cost of either trip, but nothing has been decided yet.

Thank you.
